I have noticed some folks in the rant threads using the thumbs down feature inappropriately.  It is not to be used as a way to silence opinions that differ from yours.  It is a way to help us moderate the board.  Please review the following guideline (which is also available in our How To's):

THUMBS DOWN

You can help our group deal with problem posts even before you notify management. If you believe that a post is out of line in terms of our board rules, give it the thumbs down. Once three people have given the same post the thumbs down, it is collapsed (hidden) within the thread. The post can then only be seen by other members if they click thru a special warning button. (Note- thumbing a post down instantly collapses the post for you, regardless.) Please use this tool sparingly.

Thank you Shirley as I was going to mention this before to you but I didn't want to upset anyone

On this topic is it appropriate to use it to hide a post that is wrong for a certain thread?  Such as a picture of an actor that is the opposition of the pairing that the thread is about?  OK, not trying to be mean, but someone came in the Lucky and Elizabeth thread and posted a picture ofJason.  It;s just wrong for the thread, perhaps they didn't even realize that they were in the wrong thread, but we are fans of LnL2 and we don't nessecarily just want to look at a picture of Jason.  Is that an appropriate use of that feature?

i saw that in there princesalicia and as most know i am a liason fan and i total think it was very inappropriate for that to have been posted in there and as i understand the rules i think that would have been a perfect example of when the thumbs down should have been used and i will admit i did use a thumbs down on that one and i am a huge fan of jason's i just felt it wasn't right to post his picture in the lnl2 thread. i am one of the few though that is a liz fan first there for i enjoy all her pairings lnl2, liason and so on i just love the charactor lol

princessalicia,

Thank you.  That is very good example of when the Thumbs Down feature should be used because it is violating the rule of a fan only thread.

Well, this clears up my questions, lol.  I figure if I don't click the button, they'll be no mistakes on my part!

Hello, Shirley!  I accidentally hit a thumbs down on someone a day or two ago...  if I ever do it again, is there any way to undo it?
Thanks!

I've made a couple of "oopsies" and I can't figure a way to undo it...wish there were though.  I can only imagine Shirley or Joynel looking at it going ...  "What the heck was she thinking?!?"  grin

I'm glad I'm not the only one!  I felt so bad when I did it the other day!

You can not undo it but you can ask another member to give it the thumbs up, thus neutralizing it.
