Ned's upbringing

I've just been able to watch some of this week's shows last night, so if this has been discussed, I didn't see it on the message board.

Several days ago, when Tracy left Dillon at the Q mansion, Edward said something about he and Lila raising Ned. I understood that Tracy sent Ned to boarding school at 6 years old. Didn't he meet Damien Smith at boarding school, and didn't he tell Lois about being packed off and at boarding school from a very early age?

I'm confused...
